Another Epic Season of Epic Trails Set to Hit US Airwaves, June 4th

Heliconia, the video production company behind the hit television show Epic Trails, is excited to announce that Season 2 of the highly anticipated series is set to premiere on FOX Sports Network on Tuesday, June 4th at 5:30pm. Following close behind the launch on FOX Sports Network, Season 2 of Epic Trails will begin airing on Outside TV.

The season kicks off with host, Eric Hanson, putting his physical and mental strength to the test on what is humbly known as one of the most challenging hikes in the world – Papua New Guinea’s Kokoda Track. As Eric puts it, “The Kokoda Track is known as one of the world’s most difficult trails. It’s steep. It’s hot. It’s muddy. And it’s bloody amazing.” Between hikes, Eric experiences first-hand the diverse cultures of the region’s indigenous people and is moved by their customs and the incredible hospitality they show towards him.

Beginning with Papua New Guinea, Season 2 of Epic Trails will feature one awe-inspiring destination after another, including: Canada’s Sunshine Coast, British Columbia; England’s Peak District & Derbyshire; Juneau, Alaska; Jämtland, Sweden; Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada; Wales; New South Wales, Australia; California; and Poland. There will plenty of opportunity to catch the show this season as the premiere episode alone is scheduled to air 26 times in the month of June. Season 8 of Knot Right Kayak Fishing presented by FishUSA set to premiere May 23rd on Sportsman Channel

Heliconia, the video production company behind the hit television series Knot Right Kayak Fishing presented by FishUSA, is excited to announce that the 8th season of the entertaining kayak fishing show will premiere on Sportsman Channel, Thursday, May 23rd at 10:00 am est. The episode will re-air on Sunday, May 26th at 2:30 pm est.

Season 8 of Knot Right Kayak Fishing presented by FishUSA kicks off with Chad “Knot Right” Hoover chasing big bass around La Crosse, Wisconsin with special guests Eric Siddiqi, Gene “Flukemaster” Jensen and Jeremiah Burish, in a mock tournament episode.

Regulars of Knot Right Kayak Fishing presented by FishUSA love Chad’s down-to-earth, honest and informative take on kayak fishing. While always the funny-man, Chad provides easy to understand tips and tricks to help anglers of all experience levels up-their game and land their personal best. Season 7 of Facing Waves set to hit US airwaves, May 7th on FOX Sports Network

Heliconia, the video production company behind the paddling television series Facing Waves, is excited to announce the launch of the 7th Season of the award-winning show at on Tuesday, May 7th, on FOX Sports Network. A total of 26 airings are already scheduled for the Season Premiere episode on FOX Sports Sun, FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports Southeast, FOX Sports Southwest and FOX SportsTime Ohio. Following closely behind the launch on FOX Sports Network, Season 7 of Facing Waves will also soon be released on Outside TV.

Facing Waves is an exciting and inspiring TV series that follows top paddlers as they discover the cultures, landscapes and adventures of the world’s most amazing adventure travel destinations. In Season 7, the first six episodes of Facing Waves will shine a spotlight on the diverse regions and endless opportunities for adventure that are found in Québec, Canada.

The result of an exciting marketing partnership between Heliconia and the Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec, each of the first six episodes of Facing Waves feature two distinct regions in la belle province. The adventures showcased in these episodes include, but are not limited to, sea kayaking with puffins in the Côte-Nord, whitewater kayaking down the raging waters of the Kipawa Rivers, exploring sea caves in les Iles de la Madeleine, stand up paddle boarding through the huge waves of the St. Lawrence River’s Lachine Rapids, learning about the Cree culture in the James Bay region of Northern Québec, and of course, taste testing all sorts of local delicacies along the way…everything from sticky buns to sea urchins, smoked herring and local craft beer.

In addition to the six Facing Waves episodes, the partnership with the Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec produced a dozen premium YouTube videos which are housed on Heliconia’s PaddleTV YouTube channel. Part of the Paddle Tales YouTube series, each video showcases a different region of Québec, and invites adventure travelers to experience the authentic and friendly hospitality found throughout the province for themselves.

KAYAK ANGLERS’ WILL WANT TO TUNE IN TO WFN AND SPORTSMAN CHANNEL ON SUNDAY, APRIL 7: NEW SEASONS WITH JIM SAMMONS SET TO PREMIERE

Heliconia is proud to announce the upcoming launch of Season 8 of Seaguar’s Extreme Fishing Challenge and Season 10 of Jackson Kayak’s Kayak Fishing Show. Both hosted by renown kayak angler Jim Sammons, Seaguar’s Extreme Kayak Fishing Challenge will premiere on Sportsman Channel, Sunday, April 7th at 2:30 PM EST, while Jackson Kayak’s Kayak Fishing Show will premiere on World Fishing Network (WFN) on Sunday, April 7th at 6:30 PM EST. Fans of shows can look forward to weekly airings on Sportsman Channel and WFN beginning in April.

The two shows follow host Jim Sammons as he travels the world with his kayak, on the hunt for the biggest and most challenging game fish. A San Diego, California native and certified fish and game licensed guide, Jim is known worldwide as a pioneer of big game kayak fishing. This season, Jim targets huge gamefish in the Bahamas, Louisiana, Canada’s Algonquin Park and the Ottawa Valley, Panama, Sweden, Costa Rica, California, Brazil, and Florida.

“This past year of filming has been super exciting!” explains Jim. “We traveled to some amazing locations, met so many wonderful people and experienced their food and culture. The season premiere episode of Seaguar’s Extreme Kayak Fishing Challenge sees Jim and special guest Esteban Gutierrez fishing incredibly beautiful and remote sections of the Amazon River in Brazil in search for huge peacock bass.

As for Jackson Kayak’s Kayak Fishing Show, this season kicks off with Jim and special guests from the Jackson Kayak Fishing Team chasing down various species of fish on the fly in the clear blue water of Bahama Island. Without giving too much away, viewers will get to witness the kayak anglers fight with more than eight different species of fish including: tarpon, permit, bonefish, wahoo, ski jacks and barracuda.

Heliconia is proud to announce the release of a new series called “Winter Tips”. Hosted by Eric Hanson, expert backpacker and star of the popular Epic Trails TV show, the series provide viewers with best practices on how to successfully, and enjoyably, go winter camping. The videos, eight in total, can be viewed on the Backpacking TV YouTube channel.

The Winter Tips series was officially launched with the release of an inspirational video fittingly called “Winter Camping Can Suck – Or it Can Be Epic.” Filmed over 2 days in -4 Fahrenheit temperatures in the beautiful Ottawa Valley, Canada, this piece combines breathtaking cinematography with easily accessible expert advice. Throughout, Eric explains his desire to inspire others to give winter camping a try.

“Most people don’t want to experience the discomfort [of winter camping],” empathizes host Eric Hanson. “But what they’re doing is ruling out that they’re going to experience the other extreme, which is the joy and the elation and the peace and the beauty that comes with it.”

TWO HELICONIA FILMS SELECTED AS FINALISTS IN THE 2019 PADDLING FILM FESTIVAL WORLD TOUR

Beachburg, Canada: Heliconia is proud to announce their short films Paddling with Kids: Starting Kids with Kayaking and Sea Kayak Surfing in Jamaica have been selected for the 2019 Paddling Film Festival World Tour. The films are two of 26 short listed films to be included in this year’s Paddling Film Festival World Tour.

Paddling with Kids: Starting Kids with Kayaking provides parents with best practices for introducing kids to the sport of kayaking and is part of the Youth Safe Paddling Series, a partnership with the American Canoe Association (ACA). The series was funded by the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund.

“We have worked with Heliconia Press for over four years and have developed a great partnership with the team through dozens of projects, the most recent being the Paddling with Kids series,” explains Marcel Bieg, Western States Outreach Director and Grant Manager for the American Canoe Association. “Their professionalism and dedication to the production and accuracy of media in all its forms, is always evident. We appreciate their attention to detail and creative approach in bringing the Paddling with Kids series to life.”

Sea Kayak Surfing in Jamaica is an excerpt from Heliconia’s popular Facing Waves television series. It showcases the beautiful blue coast of the island of Jamaica and its incredible, yet surprisingly small, local surf scene.

“Surfing the Jamaican waves in a sea kayak was both exhilarating and humbling,” reminisces Heliconia President and Facing Waves Producer and Host, Ken Whiting. “But I think the coolest thing, was how friendly and welcoming the surf community was in Jamaica. The place has great waves, great people, and a great all-around vibe.”

This is not the first time Heliconia’s productions have been selected for the film festival. In 2017 the organization won Best Stand Up Paddling Film for Facing Waves: Paddling Barbados and Best Kayak Fishing Film for The Kayak Fishing Experience. Heliconia’s films Sea Kayaking in Juneau, Alaska and The Golden Rules of Canoeing were finalists in 2018.

The 2019 Paddling Film Festival World Tour will screen in more than 120 cities around the world, showing an inspiring curated collection of films to thousands of captive audience members. Both Paddling with Kids: Starting Kids with Kayaking and Sea Kayak Surfing in Jamaica are up for the Aqua-Bound People’s Choice Award.
