The third episode of Facing Waves, Season 8 is set to hit airwaves Saturday, June 19th on Bally Sports Network and Friday, July 9th on Outside TV. The episode is scheduled to air more than 74 times this month alone!
In this episode, host Ken Whiting challenges himself with the huge rapids and epic surf waves of the Ottawa River’s Main Channel, and then heads down the Middle Channel with his ten year old daughter for their first trip ever with her in her own kayak.
The Ottawa River is recognized around the world as one of the top whitewater kayaking destinations. It has warm water, big rapids and epic surf waves, which is why many of the world’s top paddlers have come from the Ottawa. It is also why Ken decided to call this place home over 20 years ago.
A lot can happen in 20 years, and while Ken still enjoys playing in the huge rapids, he now gets to bear witness to the new generation of whitewater kayakers as they build their skills and love of the outdoors.
